Antenatal Day Assessment Service

The Antenatal Day Assessment Service (ANDAS) provides specialist care for women who are experiencing or have a previous history of a high risk pregnancy.

We are here to provide holistic care in a supportive and intimate environment. Our midwives work closely with an obstetrician to monitor you and your baby’s specific needs. Your antenatal clinic care is not replaced by this service, but is rather an addition to your care.

Our services

We diagnose, treat and manage the care of women who have pregnancy conditions. This may include:

  • history of Type 1, Type 2 and gestational diabetes
  • high blood pressure
  • pre-eclampsia
  • your baby is not growing well or if you are not able to feel the baby move.

Appointments

You may require only one or regular appointments which can take several hours. These appointments are used to keep track of your health and possibly reduce the need for overnight admissions. Due to limited space, we ask you to find babysitting for other children. You are welcome to bring your partner or one support person with you.

Concerns about your health

If you have any concerns, contact us on (07) 5433 8213 during business hours Monday-Friday, 9.00am-4.00pm. During your antenatal care, if you are seeing midwives through a Midwifery Group Practice (MGP), you should always contact them first for further advice. The midwife from your MGP will advise you on the most appropriate care required and if necessary, refer you to the Antenatal Day Assessment Service.

How to access this service

You may be referred from either the Antenatal Clinics, Maternity Ward, Birthing Suite, your GP, or you may even self-refer if there are any concerns or complications during your pregnancy. Appointments are necessary and then an antenatal day assessment service midwife will be in touch to give you an appointment time.
