Intensive Care

Our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) provides critical care to patients who are seriously ill or with life threatening injuries. We offer specialist intensive care services for a wide range of critically ill adult patients. Our priority is to provide the best care for our patients.

Our services

Our facility is 6 beds unit with the capability of managing 2 ventilated patients by intensive care specialists with advanced specialisation in infectious diseases, sepsis, toxins, envenomation. We also have a medical emergency response team who can attend emergency situations across the campus.

Our team

The ICU team includes doctors, nurses, therapists and technicians who have extensive training in intensive care. During your relative’s treatment, you can expect to meet them including other important members of our multidisciplinary team.

What to expect

Having a family member or friend who is seriously ill in ICU can be an overwhelming experience. We want you to feel confident in the care we provide to your loved one. We will support you every step of the way during this stressful time. The following is what you can expect during and after your relative’s stay in ICU.

Inter hospital transfers

There may be times when a patient requires transfer to another ICU for treatment that Caboolture Hospital cannot provide. You will be notified if this is to occur and advised of the expected transfer time. A nurse and often a doctor will escort the patient in the ambulance. Family members cannot travel with the patient in the ambulance.
