Perinatal Mental Health

We care for the emotional and psychological wellbeing of parents and their baby during pregnancy (ante natally) and early parenthood up to 1 year post natally.

We understand for some parents, adjusting to pregnancy and parenthood can be a difficult and distressing time. You may experience a range of emotions that may lead to perinatal depression, anxiety or other related conditions if left undetected. It is important to know that you are not alone. Our experienced staff are here to help you connect with your baby and support your psychological wellbeing.

We support women for a brief period to assess their needs and provide a referral to further support services. Women who experience crisis are referred to the acute care service.

• Specialist perinatal mental health assessment and treatment recommendations
• Brief intervention
• Provide information regarding:
  • emotional health during pregnancy and postpartum
  • depression
  • anxiety
  • birth trauma
  • coping with stressful situations
• Refer you to appropriate psychological and/or community service

For support and information contact RBWH on 0417 819 949 or Caboolture and Redcliffe on 0408 151 138. Once your referral is received, we will call you to discuss the referral.

Clinics

We have clinics at RBWH, Redcliffe Hospital and Caboolture Hospital and can arrange to visit you at your closest Community Health Centre during your pregnancy.

We can arrange antenatal appointments at Nundah Community Health Centre and we can visit at your home post natally.
