The main entrance and the Emergency Department entrance are both accessed via McKean Street and close to the main car park.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-2\"><h2>Visiting hours and wards<\/h2>\n<p>Caboolture Hospital is committed to making sure each patient\u2019s stay is as safe and comfortable as possible. Visiting hours are in place to allow patients to rest, and vary from ward to ward.<\/p>\n<p>If you need to visit or stay outside of these hours, or if a patient needs or wants extra rest time, please speak with the Nurse Unit Manager who will help find a solution that is in the best interest of each patient. \u00a0We ask all visitors to keep noise to a minimum. Please ask staff or volunteers for the facility closest to you.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-5\"><h2>Bringing food for patients<\/h2>\n<p>We understand some patients prefer their own food. Please note we do not take responsibility for food that is brought in by visitors for patients. We ask visitors who wish to bring food for patients to choose low risk food and check with staff before giving it to their patient. Due to their health condition, some patients may become very unwell if they eat the wrong food at the wrong time.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-6\"><h2>Your appointment (outpatients)<\/h2>\n<p>Your <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.metronorth.health.qld.gov.au\/caboolture\/patients-and-visitors\/your-appointment\">outpatient appointment<\/a> is to see a specialist or clinician about your condition without being admitted into hospital.\u00a0You may have an outpatient appointment before and\/or after your admission to hospital.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-7\"><h2>Appropriate behaviour<\/h2>\n<p>We are committed to protecting the safety and wellbeing of our patients, visitors and staff. We promote a safe and comfortable environment where everyone is treated with respect and dignity.<\/p>\n<p>We remind everyone that Queensland Health has a policy of zero tolerance to violence.\u00a0 The following inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>aggressive, abusive and threatening<\/li>\n<li>physical or verbal attacks<\/li>\n<li>obscene, racist, sexist or demeaning language<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our security guards are available 24\/7. In circumstances when our staff respond to violence, they do so from a legal and ethical framework. You are encouraged to report all incidents including concerns regarding staff conduct.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-8\"><h2>Bringing flowers to patients<\/h2>\n<p>Flowers and potted plants are a lovely gift for patients. For patient safety reasons, we cannot allow flowers or potted plants in the Intensive Care Unit or near patients with respiratory issues.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-9\"><h2>Hand hygiene<\/h2>\n<p>Clean hands help prevent infection.\u00a0To reduce the risk and spread of infections, we ask you, your visitors and staff to keep their hands clean.<\/p>\n<p>It is okay to use the hand gel or the basins to clean hands. Please ask your family and friends not to visit if they are sick. Find out how you can protect yourself and your loved ones by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qld.gov.au\/health\/conditions\/all\/prevention\/hand-hygiene\/index.html\">hand washing for hygiene<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-10\"><div class=\"fusion-menu-anchor\" id=\"smoke-free\"><\/div>\n<h2>Smoke free hospital<\/h2>\n<p>Smoking is not permitted on the hospital grounds.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qld.gov.au\/health\/staying-healthy\/atods\/smoking\/laws\/index.html\">Queensland Tobacco Laws<\/a> ban smoking at hospitals and on campus grounds within 5 metres of its boundary.<\/p>\n<p>If you are a patient who smokes and want to give up, we can help you with free Nicotine Replacement Therapy or alternatives. Please ask your clinical staff for advice on treatment or phone the anonymous and confidential <a href=\"http:\/\/www.quitnow.gov.au\/\">QUITLINE<\/a> service on <strong>131 848<\/strong><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We strongly advise that you do not leave the ward area to smoke. Leaving the ward is at your own risk and against the advice of your medical team.
