We encourage family and friends to visit their loved ones.<\/p>\n<p>Visitors are asked to keep noise to a minimum and not permitted to smoke on and 5 metres from the hospital grounds. The Nurse Unit Manager is responsible for the ward and may ask visitors to leave, or restrict visitors in the interest of the patient&#8217;s welfare. Baby change rooms are located in Outpatients department and Maternity.\u00a0 Please ask staff for the toilet closest to you.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-4\"><h2>Bringing food for patients<\/h2>\n<p>We advise visitors who wish to bring food for patients to choose low risk food and check with staff before giving to their relative. Please note we do not take responsibility for food that is brought in by visitors for patients.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-5\"><h2>Quiet places<\/h2>\n<h3>Healing garden<\/h3>\n<p>Our Healing Garden provides a quiet space for staff and visitors, in particular Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander visitors and patients. The snake-like pathway design through the garden is lined with river stones and native plants to attract native birds and other wildlife.<\/p>\n<h3>Garden of reflection<\/h3>\n<p>The Garden of reflection is a tranquil quiet space for patients and visitors to take some time out away from the busy hospital.<\/p>\n<h3>Chapel<\/h3>\n<p>The Chapel is open to people of all faiths or for those needing a quiet place of refection and is located near the Palliative Care and Rehabilitation Unit.\u00a0Chaplains offer spiritual support and pastoral care to patients, visitors and staff. This includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>an accepting, compassionate, respectful and attentive presence to people of all or no particular faith<\/li>\n<li>help and support in times of stress or crisis<\/li>\n<li>prayers and the sacraments (eg communion) where appropriate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you wish to arrange the services of a minister of religion please ask the ward staff. Bibles are available on request.\u00a0For more information or would like to speak to a chaplain phone (07)&nbsp;3883&nbsp;7878.<\/p>\n<h2>Appropriate behaviour<\/h2>\n<p>We are committed to protecting the safety and wellbeing of our patients, visitors and staff. We promote a safe and comfortable environment where everyone is treated with respect and dignity.<\/p>\n<p>We remind everyone that Queensland Health has a policy of zero tolerance to violence.\u00a0 The following inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>aggressive, abusive and threatening<\/li>\n<li>physical or verbal attacks<\/li>\n<li>obscene, racist, sexist or demeaning language<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our security guards are available 24\/7. In circumstances when our staff respond to violence, they do so from a legal and ethical framework. You are encouraged to report all incidents including concerns regarding staff conduct.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-6\"><div class=\"fusion-menu-anchor\" id=\"smoke-free\"><\/div>\n<h2>Smoke free hospital<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qld.gov.au\/health\/staying-healthy\/atods\/smoking\/laws\/index.html\">Queensland Tobacco Laws<\/a> ban smoking\u00a0<span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">on hospital grounds or within 5 metres of the property.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>If you are a patient who smokes and want to give up, we can help you with free Nicotine Replacement Therapy or alternatives. Please ask your clinical staff for advice on treatment or phone the anonymous and confidential <a href=\"http:\/\/www.quitnow.gov.au\/\">QUITLINE<\/a> service on <strong>131 848<\/strong><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We strongly advise that you do not leave the ward area to smoke. Leaving the ward is at your own risk and against the advice of your medical team. Hospital equipment must not be taken off hospital grounds.\u00a0If you have an intravenous drip, under no circumstances are you to leave the building for the purpose of smoking.<\/p>\n<p>In no event or circumstances shall Queensland Health be liable for any injury, harm or damages incurred by you choosing to exit the hospital buildings and\/or grounds for the purposes of smoking.<\/p>\n<\/div><style>\n.column-1 { width:30%;
