Gold Award for QFTAC

Metro North’s Queensland Fixated Threat Assessment Centre (QFTAC) won a Gold Award for Fostering Innovation at the 2015 Queensland Police Service (QPS) Awards for Excellence.

The centre is a joint initiative between QPS Security Operations Unit and the State’s Forensic Mental Health Unit, which operates through the Community Forensic Outreach Service at Metro North Mental Health.

The QPS Awards for Excellence acknowledge and reward individuals and teams for innovative, creative and outstanding initiatives, projects or systems that have been implemented across the State.

Executive Director of Metro North Mental Health, Associate Professor Brett Emmerson, congratulated centre staff on the award.

“This is a further example where partnerships between Metro North Mental Health and government and non-government organisations are providing valuable synergises,” he said.

Police Commissioner Ian Stewart said the awards not only acknowledged outstanding projects and initiatives, but identified officers and staff members who have sought ways to improve the service offered by the QPS.
