It is world renowned for clinical and translational research in cardiac and thoracic medicine and surgery, critical care and orthopaedics.\u00a0The hospital currently provides care across a broad range of specialties including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>emergency medicine for adults and children<\/li>\n<li>general medical and general surgical services<\/li>\n<li>cardiac and thoracic medicine and surgery (the campus is home to Queensland&#8217;s\u00a0largest cardiothoracic service)<\/li>\n<li>orthopaedic joint surgery (elective) and fractured neck of femur service<\/li>\n<li>general medical and general surgical services<\/li>\n<li>acute geriatric and rehabilitative medicine, including cognitive assessment and management<\/li>\n<li>children\u2019s inpatient (short stay) and outpatient services<\/li>\n<li>comprehensive and integrated mental health services<\/li>\n<li>palliative care.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-menu-anchor\" id=\"research\"><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-3\"><h2>Research opportunities<\/h2>\n<p>The Nursing Research and Practice Development Centre (NRPDC) is jointly funded by the Australian Catholic University (ACU) and The Prince Charles Hospital (TPCH). The NRPDC is governed by a Steering Committee, comprised of ACU and TPCH nurse leaders.<\/p>\n<p>The overall purpose of the NRPDC is to foster change through research and encourage the implementation of evidence-based practice regarding patient care and thereby contribute to improved clinical outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>The NRPDC houses a nurse-led research team whose aim is to inspire, support, and undertake quality research within the hospital. Its current research priority areas, which are established in the NRPDC Strategic Plan and are aligned with nursing priorities that are identified within TPCH Nursing Strategic Plan, are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>falls injury prevention<\/li>\n<li>pressure injury prevention<\/li>\n<li>emergency care<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Our education partners<\/h2>\n<p>MNHHS is dedicated to the development of the future nursing professional workforce. The Nursing and Midwifery Professional Stream maintains partnerships with more than 14 state and national universities and 3 TAFE providers. Additionally, we have established a strong collaborative network with the Australian Defence Force.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-layout-column
