Redcliffe staff member appointed Adjunct Associate Professor

Specialist in Emergency Medicine and Director of the Emergency Department at Redcliffe Hospital Dr Doug Morel (left) has been honoured by being appointed Adjunct Associate Professor in the School of Public Health and Social Work, Faculty of Health at the Queensland University of Technology.

Dr Morel was mentored in the development of his research activity in and around the emergency department by Redcliffe’s Director of Research and Medical Education Dr Joel Dulhunty (right).

Professor Morel’s appointment follows his contribution to and influence of innovative emergency department models of care and design in addition to a particular interest in disaster and incident management.

Recently Professor Morel formalised a collaboration with QUT’s Faculty of Emergency and Disaster Management and a successful application for a grant will see him facilitate a three phase study aimed at reducing emergency department demand through expanded primary health care practice.

QUT has welcomed his appointment which will include collaboration with members of the School of Public Health and Social Work and Professor Gerard Fitzgerald.
