Sarah’s proud of helping our community grow
Working at Caboolture Hospital was always a first choice for recent midwifery graduate Sarah Mathes.
“I spent three years as a student midwife at Caboolture Hospital and I really wanted to be a part of,” Sarah said.
“I worked very hard and fought to gain a graduate position here.
“The Caboolture Maternity Unit welcomes about 2000 babies per year and has a great reputation in the community, which I like as well.”
Sarah undertook three years of study to become a Registered Midwife.
“The one year graduate midwifery program has provided a foundation for the rest of my career,” she said.
“For me, it’s not about machines and technology, it’s about personal care; being with women and families is what I love.
“Midwifery is a very big part of who I am, it’s not just what I do.”
Caboolture Hospital provides high-quality care to more than 150,000 people each year. The catchment is growing at 14% each year and includes Caboolture, Bribie Island and North Lakes. Nurses make up 57 per cent of the workforce.
By 2022, it is anticipated that Caboolture Hospital will double in size and offer a significantly larger number of services.
A lot of new staff are joining the team now excited to be part of the future growth journey.
