Grants boost emergency medicine research

Five Metro North emergency medicine research teams have been awarded EMF grants to further their the ground-breaking studies.

Congratulations to:

RBWH  – Dr Gary Mitchell, Trainee grant, $16,866: “Diagnosis of Acute Coronary Occlusion in patients with a Ventricular Paced Rhythm”

Caboolture Hospital – Dr Mark Scott, Staff Specialist grant, $30,550: “The Value of Avoiding the Pain of IV Catheter Failure”

RBWH – Dr Rina Savage, Trainee grant, $34,995: “Prescribing patterns and communication for oxycodone on ED discharge”

RBWH – Adjunct Professor Louise Cullen, Project grant, $77,233: “Too much of a good thing; Does fluid resuscitation worsen septic shock?”

Redcliffe Hospital – Dr Erik Wood, Staff specialist grant, $7860: “Propofol on Trial for Headaches in the Emergency Department setting”

EMF awarded 20 research grants totalling $1. 2million. Its Queensland Research Program is fully funded by the Queensland Government.
