What is cancer?

Cancer is a disease of the cells. Your body normally makes new cells to help you grow, replace worn-out tissue and heal injuries. When cells don’t grow, divide and die in the usual way they can lead to tumours, either benign (not cancer) or malignant.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander support

An Indigenous Hospital Liaison Officer (IHLO) can visit you to help explain your treatment. Please ask our staff.
