Kilcoy Hospital refurbishment continues with fresh, new-look website

The refurbishment of Kilcoy Hospital continues with a fresh, new-look website now available online.

Kilcoy Hospital Director Lyndie Best said the new website featured 48 pages of useful information for patients, visitors, health professionals and the Somerset community.

“We consulted patients, visitors, our local health care consumers’ network and the community to determine what they would like to see on a new website,” Ms Best said.

“As a result, the new website has 17 pages providing details on health services available at the hospital with the remaining 31 pages containing patient and visitor information, careers and news pages.

“It also has improved information, navigation and resources for patients, visitors, families, referrers and other health care professionals visiting the hospital online.

“I think people will be surprised to see the large range of services that we offer onsite or by Telehealth, which provides direct access to key specialists in larger hospitals in Brisbane without leaving Kilcoy.

“The new website is mobile and tablet responsive, so it doesn’t matter which type of device you use to access it.

“Our improved online presence represents another great step forward for the hospital and the community.”

Ms Best said the new website was the latest improvement at the hospital, following an extensive refurbishment and a number of experienced staff coming on board recently.

“Our three year refurbishment program has modernised the facility and the introduction of new services, including Senior Medical Officers on site five days a week,” Ms Best said.

“Nursing Unit Manager Debbie Jones has brought a level of emergency department expertise and experience to the hospital, which is increasing the knowledge and support to nursing staff.

“Kilcoy residents can be assured of good clinical care when they present to the emergency department.”

Kilcoy Hospital was established in 1912 and now has 21 beds with a four bed emergency department, providing immediate emergency treatment, general medicine, allied health and management of specific conditions.

It also has strong links with other Metro North Hospital and Health Service facilities and will transfer patients to larger facilities if their condition warrants a higher level of ongoing care.
