Research Strategy launched

Metro North has launched our first comprehensive Research Strategy 2017-2022 to help us better support research.

The strategy looks at three themes to explore and pursue excellence for better patient outcomes.

The themes, diagnostics, therapeutics and health services, will allow us to focus research on discovery, translation and evaluation of health outcomes.

We have also identified five key enablers of research – our patients, our people, our systems, our infrastructure and our partners – that will help Metro North deliver more research-infused patient-centred care.

The strategy has been developed after extensive consultation with researchers across Metro North. It sets out ambitious goals and priorities to encourage researchers pursue and achieve excellence.

Metro North’s researchers, particularly those in our two major hospitals, are well known nationally and internationally for their clinical discoveries and knowledge translation.

Our next step is to look at sustainable funding models and research education to encourage more people into research and to improve our health services evaluation.
