Our services include Medical Oncology, Haematology and Bone Marrow Transplant, the Queensland Haemophilia Centre, Radiation Oncology and BreastScreen Queensland.

What is cancer?

Cancer is a disease of the cells. Your body normally makes new cells to help you grow, replace worn-out tissue and heal injuries. When cells don’t grow, divide and die in the usual way they can lead to tumours, either benign (not cancer) or malignant.

BreastScreen Queensland provide free breast cancer screening for all eligible Queensland women.

An introduction to Cancer Care Services from Associate Professor Glen Kennedy, Executive Director, Cancer Care Services.

Hello and welcome. My name is Associate Professor, Glen Kennedy, and I’m the Executive Director of Metro North Cancer Care Services I understand that a diagnosis of cancer can be very overwhelming.

We know that a diagnosis of cancer will generate many different emotions and fears and questions in any given patient or individual.

This site has been specifically developed to help you on your journey through your cancer treatment.

Metro North Cancer Care Services provides in-patient and outpatient services at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for hematology and bone marrow transplantation, radiation oncology, and medical oncology, as well as hematology and medical oncology services at the North Lakes Health Precinct in combination with radiation consultations.

Outpatient medical oncology and hematology services in combination with radiation oncology consultations are also provided at the Prince Charles Hospital, and medical oncology and radiation consultations at Redcliffe and Caboolture Hospitals.

BreastScreen services are provided throughout North Brisbane and Telehealth services to Kilcoy Hospital and some regional areas.

This site provides one central point for information for cancer patients coming to utilize our services in Metro North. Information about your disease, treatment options, hospital support services, support groups, patient stories, and current research are all provided at the site.

You will also be able to provide us with feedback on our services or if there’s anything else you would like to see on this site.

If your questions aren’t answered on this site, just remember, our cancer care team is here to help. Wherever you may be in our service, whether that be at Redcliffe Hospital, Caboolture Hospital, North Lakes Health Precinct, Prince Charles Hospital, or the Royal Brisbane Hospital, our team is here for you.
