Diabetes Service
We help you to make healthier decisions about managing your diabetes. Our service provides you with clinical knowledge and skills for self-management and prevention of diabetes-related complications.
Our services
We care for patients with:
- newly diagnosed Type 1 diabetes (adults and children)
- unstable Type 1 diabetes
- hypoglycaemia unawareness in Type 1 diabetes
- gestational diabetes, Type 1 and 2 diabetes in pregnancy (Redcliffe and Caboolture antenatal clinics only)
- Type 2 diabetes requiring insulin initiation with complex needs.
We also:
- provide insulin pump initiation and education
- support inpatients at Redcliffe Hospital, Caboolture Hospital and The Prince Charles Hospital who are on insulin or require insulin before discharge.
How to access this service
You can only access this service if you have been referred by a hospital clinician, Queensland Ambulance Service, GP or other healthcare provider. This is a clinic-based service only, we do not offer a home visiting service.
